Dr. B.G. Chavan an Asstt. Surgeon working in the J.A. Hospital was sent by the Gwalior State Government for training for 3 months to the J.J. Hospital Bombay in 1946. This was the year of starting the Medical College. Dr. Chavan continued to work as the only trained anesthetist in the Medical College until December 1954. Then Dr. A. P. Singhal joined as a Lecturer in Anaesthesia after completing the course of Diploma in Anaesthesia of the University of Bombay.
Post graduation was started in the year 1972 by the then Head Prof. A. P. Singhal and initially diploma (DA) was started later in 1973 MD was also started. Till 79 postgraduates has done diploma and 123 had passed MD course from the department.
